Suicide Squad Movie Trailer 2

DC Entertainment have release the second official trailer for the upcoming movie Suicide Squad based on the comic of the same name.

The film was written and directed by David Ayer (Fury, Training Day) and stars Margot Robbie as Harley, Will Smith as Deadshot, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jared Leto as The Joker, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomarang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg and an appearance by Ben Affleck as Batman.

A secret government agency run by Amanda Waller, named A.R.G.U.S creates a task force comprised of super villains, the “Suicide Squad”. They are assigned to execute dangerous tasks in exchange for shorter prison sentences.

DC entertainment are expanding the cinematic universe this year, Superman vs Batman sees the DC trinity (Batman, Superman and Wonder woman) in a single movie for the first time and a lot of fan favorites such as Harley Quinn, Deadshot and the new look Joker will be coming together in Suicide Squad. The two movies being tied together by the appearance of Batman.

While Marvel have been pushing the expanded cinematic universe for a little while longer in film, I feel DC has been building a great foundation through Television and is now starting to catch up in film and I think DC will be giving Marvel a good run for their money at the box office this year. We often come back to the DC vs Marvel ‘thing’ but ultimately this will be a big year of superheroes and the big winners will be the fans. I’m really looking forward to seeing how this movie goes, there are a lot of characters to keep track of and most with ‘larger than life’ personalities.  The development of those characters, the interaction and internal conflict that plays out vs the all important action and special effects will be a fine line but based on David Ayers previous films, I believe we are in safe hands.
