20th Century Fox have released the first trailer for the upcoming reboot of the IO Interactive’s video game franchise: Hitman, titled Hitman: Agent 47. The movie stars Zachary Quinto, Ciarán Hinds, Hannah Ware and Rupert Friend as the assassin Agent 47, and is directed by Aleksander Bach.
The original movie (2007) starred Timothy Olyphant as the enigmatic assassin Agent 47, and while it did reasonably well at the box office, it wasn’t a huge hit with critics and fans. Consequently the planned sequel was scrapped in favor of this fresh reboot. It has a fairly young cast and this is the directors feature length debut so I don’t want to get my hopes up too much but judging from the action in the Hitman: Agent 47 trailer (wait, isn’t he supposed to be stealthy?!), it looks like they have done a pretty good job so I am looking forward to watching it!
HITMAN: AGENT 47 centers on an elite assassin who was genetically engineered from conception to be the perfect killing machine, and is known only by the last two digits on the barcode tattooed on the back of his neck. He is the culmination of decades of research and forty-six earlier Agent clones — endowing him with unprecedented strength, speed, stamina and intelligence. His latest target is a mega-corporation that plans to unlock the secret of Agent 47’s past to create an army of killers whose powers surpass even his own. Teaming up with a young woman who may hold the secret to overcoming their powerful and clandestine enemies, 47 confronts stunning revelations about his own origins and squares off in an epic battle with his deadliest foe.
