Ghostbusters Movie Trailer

Sony Entertainment have released the first trailer for the upcoming movie, Ghostbusters.

Directed by Paul Feig, written by Paul Feig and Katie Dippold based on the original Ghostbusters (written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis), the reboot stars Kristen WiigMelissa McCarthyKate McKinnon and Leslie Jones as the Ghostbusting foursome with Chris Hemsworth as the office manager and several cameo appearances from the original cast such as Dan AykroydSigourney Weaver and Bill Murray

The plot appears to loosely follow the original in that someone (or something) has created a device which amplifies the ghost activity in New York City. The girls take it upon themselves to break up the paranormal party, developing some portable proton packs and traps and having a few laughs along the way.

The original Ghostbusters movie was released in 1984 (32 years old!!) and was a huge success not only at the time but it became an enduring cult classic which enjoyed huge popularity even before the idea for this movie came about. But doing a reboot of such a popular cult film is a huge risk. While many of the original stars return for cameos (and are voicing their support of the new film), fans will be looking for a recreation of the original magic they feel when they think of the original.

Its a big ask but The director, Paul Feig gets that, and the comedy stars in Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy have a huge amount of experience that they bring to the table. The visual effects look amazing, there are heaps of laughs, and while many fans of the original may not agree I think this will be a great way to make the Ghostbusters franchise relevant to a younger generation.

The director Paul Feig also tried to make the movie as scientifically accurate as possible by asking particle physicists to consult on the proton backpack design and the scientific notes added into the shots.
